Auckland is the base, and almost everything worth seeing on the upper North Island is a day trip from it. These are the places programmes are usually built from — the final itinerary is yours to choose.

Auckland city & harbour

The Sky Tower, the waterfront, the museum and the Domain — plus the ordinary business of ordering lunch in English, which is where the learning actually happens.

Walking distance

Rangitoto Island

A volcano that erupted out of the sea about 600 years ago, a short ferry from downtown. Walk to the summit and the whole gulf opens up beneath you.

Half day

Waiheke Island

Beaches, olive groves and coastal walks, forty minutes across the water. The classic group day out when the weather behaves.

Day trip

Rotorua

Geysers, hot springs and a landscape that steams. It is also the heart of Te Arawa, and the place a group is most likely to be welcomed onto a marae.

Overnight or long day

Waitomo

Limestone caves lit by thousands of glowworms, drifting through in silence on a boat. Reliably the photograph everyone sends home.

Long day

Bay of Islands

Subtropical north: 144 islands, dolphins, and Waitangi, where New Zealand's founding document was signed. Best as a two- or three-day extension.

EduVentures FAQs

International student groups — typically school groups or agency groups with their own group leader — visiting New Zealand for a short study-and-explore stay. Tell us about your group and we'll design around it.
EduVentures programmes are short stays designed for visitor visas (study of under three months). We'll point group leaders to the right Immigration New Zealand information for their country — final visa responsibility sits with each traveller.
Groups travel with their own leaders, and our local team supports every scheduled activity. Accommodation is safe and supervised, and all staff working with young people are safety-checked as New Zealand law requires.
